What is a Doula?

A Birth Doula is a skilled birth professional who promotes advocacy and provides physical, informational, and emotional support during labor.

 

Having a doula by your side during birth is an excellent tool and We believe everyone should have access to one. Having constant support decreases your risk for induction, cesarean section and even has the potential to decrease your labor by a few extra hours! Not only that, but those who have a doula are more likely to have a positive birth experience and stronger bonds with their baby at an earlier stage after birth. Risk for PPD and PPA are also lessoned.

Did you know the term doula directly translates to mean maidservant? We fully embrace this concept!  It has become our calling to provide personal and genuine, loving support to the families we serve. We adapt to your needs and find true joy in serving you during this special time.

The birth space is a place of intimacy, vulnerability, and sacred memories. Our duty is to honor these moments by lifting you and your partner up in any way we can. We believe in the choices you make and advocate to fulfill your desires. This is YOUR birth story.

We want our families to walk away feeling completely nourished during their time with us. The experience should be fulfilling not draining; though we can't promise you won't be tired! We believe in the services we offer whether its our pre-natal education, after birth meal service, postpartum night care to help to feel better rested, or childbirth photography that fills your heart and makes the memory last a lifetime.

Closing Thoughts

Childbirth is a beautiful, scary, overwhelming, and amazing experience.  The bonds between mom and baby as well as the increased bonds between partners will never cease to fill us with joy and awe.  As doulas, our goal is to nurture and enhance the love and support between you and your loved ones as you journey through this thing called parenthood. We strive to make you feel empowered, confident, and in control so you can fully own your birth and say: "I did that!" We forget just how significant childbirth is because it happens every day, but you made a whole person and that is worth celebrating with all the joy in the world!
